What LED screen size should you choose for your event?

Start from viewing distance

Measure the distance between screen and farthest audience. That is the sizing base. Without it, choices become guesswork.

Add room width: a very lateral audience also needs readability.

Adapt size to content type

Text slides, videos, animated logos or live relay do not share the same requirements. Text demands more area and contrast.

If content is mostly immersive/visual, size can serve impact as much as fine reading.

Account for capacity and geometry

A deep room does not share the needs of a wide shallow room. Balconies, columns and dead angles also matter.

In some cases, a multi-screen setup is more effective than one giant mono-screen.

Venue and rigging constraints

Ceiling height, rigging points, allowable load and build access limit possible size. Theoretical ideal must yield to safe feasibility.

Integrate these constraints from the LED brief.

Link size and pitch

A large size viewed up close with too-wide pitch looks pixelated. Conversely, ultra-fine pitch viewed from very far can be overinvestment.

Size and pitch are decided together.

Simple validation method

Run a simulation: stand at max distance, test a text slide and a video. If text struggles, increase size or refine pitch/contrast.

Also validate the look from side seats.
